New Year, Realistic you: 5 Simple Health Hacks for Moms
Dec 30, 20235 Quick + Simple Wellness Hacks for Busy Moms
Being a Mom is the most demanding job I have EVER had! After I got pregnant with baby #2 I decided I was going to stay home. I was a teacher and it was A LOT juggling a classroom and babies at home and I maaaay have also thought that being a stay at home Mom would be easier. Yup, quickly figured out that I was WRONG!
Being at home with my then 19 month old and being pregnant was not easy. My 19 month old was VERY active and didn’t really allow me any down time but she also loved to be outside and go for stroller walks. So that’s what we would do. Everyday, regardless of temperature, I would strap her into our BOB Stroller and we would walk the neighborhood.
I figured even if it only lasted a few minutes, it was better than not doing anything!
Most days it ended up being a win, win! We both got fresh air and I got some movement in and a break from chasing her ALL over the place!
I quickly learned that if I wanted to continue to be active and be a Mom, I had to adapt to whatever was going to work with my babies's schedule.
That’s why I created this list of simple, short, and effective wellness strategies you can fit into even just a few minutes each day!
- Five-Minute Meditation:
Meditation can be incredibly effective even in short bursts. It’s about quality, not quantity.
A five-minute mindfulness session in the morning or a brief meditation before bed can help:
- lower stress levels
- increase focus
- improve overall mental health.
Apps like Headspace or Calm offer guided sessions specifically tailored for quick mindfulness breaks.
I'm also loving Gabby Bernstein's Coaching app for some great mediations right now!

- Quick Stretch Breaks:
Incorporate stretching into your daily routine to keep your body agile and mind alert.
Try adding in a quick stretch:
- While watching TV
- After sitting for a long time.
- You even get your kids involved!
These micro-movement sessions help:
- Release muscle tension
- Increase blood flow
- Can be a fun way to engage with your children and get them moving too.
- Quick and Easy Balanced Snacks:
Balanced snacking is all about making sure your snacks have protein, carbs, and fat. By doing this it will help you to feel more satiated and fuller for longer.
Snacks such as:
- Apple with nut butter
- Cheese stick and apple sauce pouch
- RX bar
These are all great examples!
If you need more I have an awesome Snack Guide with LOTS of other easy and quick ideas that you can grab here!
- Gratitude Moments:
A daily gratitude practice, even if just for a few minutes, can shift your perspective and increase happiness. Keep a gratitude journal or use an app to jot down things you’re thankful for every day. This habit can foster a positive mindset and is a powerful tool against stress and negativity.
- Hydration Hacks:
Staying hydrated throughout the day is critical for your overall health and wellness.
Tips for getting in more water:
- Carry a water bottle with you everywhere you go.
- Infuse your water with fruits for added flavor and nutrients.
- Set reminders on your phone to drink water at certain times throughout the day.
- Drink water with ALL your meals and snacks.
Proper hydration is vital for energy, digestion, and overall well-being.
Implementing these five-minute wellness strategies can significantly enhance your health and your daily Mom life.
